Abstrakt
In this study the author tries to ascertain the relationship between the composition of the organic matter of the soil, and the plant association covering this soil and forming its organic matter. The researches were carried out on mountain soils from the Tatra, from regions of a granitic and limestone formation, and partly on alpine soils from the neighbourhood of Mont Blanc.
The chief area of studies in the Tatra was the Valley of the Pięć Stawów Polskich, situated from 1700 to 2300 m. above sea-level
